SmartSite project sites can continue past June; guidance will be
If you own a project site in SmartSite and wonder what to do with it now that the service is going away, we have updates.
The first is that project sites can continue in SmartSite past spring quarter—but please notice the key phrase, “project sites.” As previously announced, the capability for teaching with SmartSite will conclude after June.
The second update is that Information and Educational Technology is assembling a team to help project site owners identify new locations for the project work they’ve been housing in SmartSite.

It’s time to move to UC Davis Canvas
The campus has chosen UC Davis Canvas to replace SmartSite, which will remain available for teaching only through spring quarter 2017. If you are an instructor who is not yet using Canvas, now is a good time to review your options.
The choice of Canvas followed a campus-wide re-appraisal of what UC Davis needs from a learning management system. Faculty, students and staff reviewed alternatives, tested three finalists, and rated Canvas highest.
Almost all UC Davis students and most instructors are already using UC Davis Canvas. If you have questions, need assistance, or want to attend a workshop on using Canvas, please see movetocanvas.ucdavis.edu. The site contains a list of training and information sessions for instructors, instructions on how faculty members can arrange for a member of the ET Partners to visit their offices to assist with Canvas, contact information, tutorials, and other resources. Please send any questions about moving to Canvas to firstname.lastname@example.org.
